Each residential course also has an assessed training of trainers day so that, when learners return to their home units, they can train others. Appointments

We have built a new unit in KorleBu Teaching Hospital, Accra, Ghana which in addition to being the main ophthalmology unit, also acts as a surgical training centre where surgeons from across West Africa come to learn subspecialist skills.

For twenty years we have been working with the West African College of surgeons to create a new world first curriculum for training ophthalmologists to subspecialist level.

Publications

My research group has undertaken public health initiatives in UK and Africa tailored for specific communities. The glaucomas are the second most common cause of preventable blindness in the world. Our group have investigated public health initiatives, economic modeling, care provision pathways, co-management and improved surgical interventions.
